Our Story

OLEOLOGY has engineered oil-free water solutions throughout Australia since 2002.

Since 2002 OLEOLOGY has developed into a full turnkey water treatment solution provider. Serving major clients across multiple sectors including oil and gas, mining, marine, defence, industrial, trucking, logistics, and PFAS remediation. Our in-house staff consists of Field service and Manufacturing technicians, supported by a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

OLEOLOGY has a long and close working relationship with MyCelx Research & Engineering Design in the USA, enhancing specialised engineering support to our Australia based engineering design, construction, and service resources.

OLEOLOGY has developed the process IP independent of MyCelx for the market sectors integral to Australia; Mining, Trucking & Logistics, Waste Contractors, Marine Supply Bases and PFAS remediation sites.

OLEOLOGY has designed many containerised Water Treatment Plants, mobile skid and hire systems for clients across Australia. Further abroad OLEOLOGY is also developing mission-critical water treatment systems for major clients in Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and USA.

Solving the toughest problems that no one else can – providing sustainable water treatment.

Headquarters located in Henderson, as part of the Australian Marine Supply Precinct (AMC), OLEOLOGY focuses on sovereign sustainment by utilising local suppliers and achieving up to 80% local content.

Since the company’s inception, there has always been a focus on developing knowledge and skills within the engineering and manufacturing teams. Improving Australian industry and strengthening relationships at all levels provides a successful outcome and longevity for all of our clients.

The MyCelx Polymer

MyCelx is a patented polymer; it instantly and permanently binds with oil and contaminants upon contact through molecular cohesion. Once oil comes in contact with MyCelx it will never re-enter the water stream.

Further protected by patents the MyCelx polymer can be formed into various products, most commonly used in a filter cartridge.  The filter cartridge looks very similar to a standard polypropylene filter however a standard filter will only hold 30% of oil in comparison to a MyCelx filter which can hold 300% of oil (between 2-3kg of hydrocarbons).

How much oil can MyCelx remove? Down to 1 ppm or less – an unheard of level until now. MyCelx can achieve the lowest ppm levels of oil in water. MyCelx is a true clean water solution.

MyCelx was founded with the commitment to reduce harmful contaminants from entering the water and from damaging the environment. Why? Because it was clear that conventional systems were ineffective, expensive and unwieldy.

Conventional systems (ie. hydrocyclones, DAF’s, Carbon etc) are huge, expensive to acquire and operate, unreliable, are prone to fouling and cannot function under varying loading rates. Conventional systems allow filtered oil to reenter the processed water stream and struggle with removing emulsified and small droplet sized oil and oil coated solids. Simply put: these systems can fail and allow the release of oil and hydrocarbons into discharged water.

The most important problem with conventional systems: even when they’re functioning as designed they simply cannot reach critically low ppm or even ppt levels when required.

Oil Removal, Not Filtration

MyCelx can remove oil at the required level, even down to critically low levels, achieving and maintaining less than 1 ppm of oil at any flow rate or droplet size. There are no systems on the market that are more energy efficient, easier to implement and operate or offer more environmental benefits.

When you combine MyCelx small footprint, low cost of acquisition and operation, superior installation and support and environmental commitment with our unparalleled performance and complete oil removal, you’ll see that MyCelx should be your oily water treatment solution.
