Our Story

OLEOLOGY has been engineering oil-free water solutions throughout Australia since 2002. Over the years, it has grown into a full turnkey water treatment solution provider, serving major clients across sectors such as oil and gas, mining, marine, defence, industrial, trucking, logistics, and PFAS remediation. The team includes in-house field service and manufacturing technicians, backed by a multi-disciplinary engineering department.

With a strong partnership with MyCelx Research & Engineering Design in the USA, OLEOLOGY enhances its specialised engineering support while maintaining Australian-based design, construction, and service operations. While leveraging MyCelx technology, OLEOLOGY has also independently developed process IP tailored for critical market sectors in Australia such as mining, trucking, logistics, marine supply bases, and PFAS remediation.

OLEOLOGY has successfully delivered numerous containerised water treatment plants, mobile skid systems, and hire solutions across Australia. Internationally, it is developing mission-critical water treatment systems for clients in Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, and the USA. Located at the Australian Marine Supply Precinct (AMC) in Henderson, OLEOLOGY prioritises sovereign sustainment with up to 80% local content and a focus on building knowledge and capability within Australia's engineering and manufacturing industries.

The MyCelx Polymer

MyCelx is a patented polymer designed to instantly and permanently bind with oil and contaminants through molecular cohesion. Once oil contacts MyCelx, it cannot re-enter the water stream, making it a truly permanent solution. The polymer is often used in filter cartridges that resemble standard polypropylene filters but with far superior performance—holding up to 300% more oil, or about 2–3kg of hydrocarbons per filter.

MyCelx can remove oil down to levels of 1 ppm or even lower, setting a new industry standard for water purity. These ultra-low levels were previously considered unachievable with conventional technologies. The polymer was developed out of a commitment to protect the environment by preventing harmful contaminants from polluting water sources—addressing the shortcomings of traditional systems.

Conventional systems like hydrocyclones, DAFs, and carbon filters are often bulky, expensive, prone to fouling, and unreliable under changing conditions. They struggle with removing emulsified oil, small droplets, and oil-coated solids—and can even release previously captured oil back into the water. Most importantly, even when functioning correctly, these systems simply cannot meet the critically low ppm or ppt levels required by today’s environmental standards.

Oil Removal, Not Filtration

MyCelx can remove oil at the required level, even down to critically low levels, achieving and maintaining less than 1 ppm of oil at any flow rate or droplet size. There are no systems on the market that are more energy efficient, easier to implement and operate or offer more environmental benefits.

When you combine MyCelx small footprint, low cost of acquisition and operation, superior installation and support and environmental commitment with our unparalleled performance and complete oil removal, you’ll see that MyCelx should be your oily water treatment solution.
