Gold Mine Wash Bay Water Recycling, Rural WA

Sector: Mining
Location: Western Australia

40 ft containerised plant at up to 30 m3/h reduced oil from 100+ ppm to 0 to 2 ppm and TSS from 500 to below 5 ppm for Department of Health reuse.

Client: joint venture of two international gold producers.

Duty: up to 30 m3/h (720 kL/day), average 650 kL/day of HV and LV wash bay water with surfactants, emulsified hydraulic and engine oils and refuelling spikes up to 30,000 ppm. Existing plate separator could not meet reuse standard.

Plant: 40 ft containerised Wash Water Treatment System (12 m x 2.5 m), four stages: MyCelx Advanced Coalescer, two MXR regenerable vessels, MyCelx cartridge filters, then AOP sanitation for Department of Health reuse in a hot climate; PLC-controlled automatic backwash.

Results: oil 100+ ppm to 0 to 2 ppm, suspended solids 400 to 500 ppm to below 5 ppm, Legionella and E. coli below 1 CFU/100 mL, sheen and odour free. The mine's RO was not upgraded; RO water was redirected to processing.

Coal Mine Wash Bay Decontamination Plant, NSW

15 kL/h containerised plant reduced TPH from up to 200 mg/L to below 10 ppm and TSS to below 15 mg/L for EPA-compliant discharge and dust suppression reuse.

Refuelling, Workshop and Wash Bay Retrofit, Pilbara Iron Ore WA

MyCelx retrofit removed detergent-emulsified fuel that defeated a coalescing plate separator and an air-induction hydrocyclone, delivering below 10 ppm TPH at 2.5 times the CPS flow.

Gold Mine Wash Water Treatment and Reuse, North-East of Kalgoorlie WA

Value-engineered 500 kL/day design removed a pond, avoided a second RO plant and delivered on time and budget in one 40 ft container.
